What is your "why"? What drives you to do this important work each day?
Growing up with a learning disability presented numerous challenges in navigating school; however, the resilience I developed through these experiences was deeply strengthened by having someone with very similar life experiences to confide in.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Seeing students' confidence improve as the year goes on, due to their performance and pride as a student.
What would you most like families to know about the role of Student Support Workers in HRCE schools?
Student Support Workers promote the academic success and well-being of African Nova Scotian students AND students of African Ancestry through a cultural lens in knowing them as they are known in areas that impact their ability to thrive now and in the future.
